On the afternoon of October 29, the press conference for the third "Beijing Young Designer List" series was grandly held at the "Dream Building Space" at Debi Tiantan WE Youlin Theatre. Qin Yidan, a 2022 master's student from the Department of Art and Design of BUCT, was awarded one of the Top Ten Young Designers of 2023 for her outstanding work.
Information about the "Beijing Youth Design Awards"
The "Beijing Youth Design Awards" is a top-tier design talent selection event jointly initiated by the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and multiple government departments and professional organizations in Beijing. Over the past three years, it has become one of the most important competitions in the national design field. The event covers the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and other parts of the country. Over the past three years, 18,317 submissions have been received, attracting more than 16,200 young designers from over 40 universities.
The list aims to discover young designers with innovative spirit and social responsibility, promoting the cutting-edge development of the design field. Through rigorous and authoritative evaluations, the event selects outstanding design talents, providing them with a platform for display and exchange. It has also become an important link in leading and uniting the young design community.
At the press conference, awards were presented for the "Youth Innovation Star," "Emerging Young Designer," "Outstanding Young Designer" (10 individuals/groups), and "Excellent Organization Units" (12 organizations), highlighting the innovative style of young designers in the new era.
From Academic Achievements to Competition Recognition
Qin Yidan's award-winning representative work, "Water Sentinels: A Smart City-based Water Safety Warning Device Design," was originally her undergraduate graduation project. It underwent in-depth innovation during her graduate studies and ultimately stood out in the "Green Design and Sustainable Living" competition track. The success of this work not only demonstrated her solid professional foundation and innovation capabilities but also proved the outstanding achievements of our university in promoting the transformation of teaching outcomes.
