In active response to the national initiative of "Enterprise Visits to Expand Job Opportunities and Promote Employment" and to further deepen university-enterprise cooperation while broadening platforms for student practice and innovation, on October 9, Li Xuemei, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department of Art and Design, and Zhuang Yibing, Head of the Department, led a delegation comprising faculty members Jiang Rui, Zhong Qinghua, Yu Jiahua, Xu Xiayu, and Chen Yongxing to visit the renowned LKK Innovation Design Group. The purpose of this visit was to explore opportunities for collaboration in areas such as practical teaching, internships and employment, and research projects, thereby fostering the development of the department and advancing innovation in art and design education.
Accompanied by Wang Xiaodan, Co-founder of LKK, the delegation first visited LKK's Innovation Showcase Hall, gaining an in-depth understanding of the company’s 20-year development journey, as well as its achievements and cutting-edge design concepts in fields such as product innovation, user experience design, and brand strategy consulting. Guided by its core value of "design driving business innovation," LKK has achieved remarkable results in the smart home, consumer electronics, and healthcare industries.
A discussion and exchange meeting was held in LKK's conference room after the tour. At the meeting, Secretary Li Xuemei expressed her gratitude to LKK for their warm reception and briefly introduced the educational philosophy, program structure, and recent achievements of the Department of Art and Design at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT). She emphasized that art and design education should keep pace with the times and be closely integrated with industry frontiers. She expressed her hope that through collaboration with LKK, students would be provided with more opportunities for practical experience, jointly cultivating innovative and practice-oriented design talents.
Wu Jinqian, General Manager of LKK's Human Resources Center, welcomed the delegation and shared valuable insights on the company's talent development strategy, joint university-enterprise talent cultivation efforts, and corporate culture. He highlighted that design is not only an expression of aesthetics but also a method of problem-solving. LKK is committed to integrating design thinking into various industries to drive industrial upgrades. Wu expressed LKK’s willingness to establish a long-term partnership with BUCT's Department of Art and Design, jointly creating practical and innovation bases to provide students with real-world platforms while injecting fresh talent and creative energy into the company.
After in-depth discussions, the two parties agreed on establishing employment and internship bases and student professional practice frameworks. Both sides will collaborate extensively on joint course design, internships, training programs, and research project cooperation. This collaboration aims to advance the integration of industry, academia, and research, contributing to cultivating high-quality design talents that meet market demands.
This visit deepened mutual understanding between the Department of Art and Design and LKK Innovation Design Group and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration. In the future, the department will continue to embrace an open and cooperative attitude, actively exploring new models of university-enterprise cooperation to provide students with more platforms for practical experience and innovation. Thus, it will support students' growth and development while contributing to the advancement of the design industry.
