Introduction for the 20th Aniwow! China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival
The Aniwow! China (Beijing) International College Animation Festival was initiated and founded by Communication University of China and approved by the National Radio and Television Administration. It has become China’s first international animation exchange event and professional competition for university students. Since its inception, Aniwow! has accompanied the rapid development of Chinese animation and witnessed the remarkable achievements of China’s animation industry over the past 20 years. Every year, students and professionals from animation programs around the world gather to showcase innovative works and exchange ideas on industry trends. As a premier platform for Chinese college animation, Aniwow! not only provides students with a broad stage to present their works but also offers them opportunities for in-depth dialogue with industry experts. Being selected for this competition is not only a high recognition of students' works but also an affirmation of their creativity and production capabilities in animation.
This year, Aniwow! has an exceptionally high level of prestige, attracting numerous outstanding animation works from top universities across China. The competition jury has set very high standards for innovation, artistry, and production techniques, and being selected for the competition is undoubtedly a significant recognition of the students' abilities.
The shortlisted work, Porcelain, was created by Li Zining, a student from Class 2301 of the Digital Media Art Program. As an AIGC (AI-Generated Content) animated short film, Porcelain adopts an ink-painting visual style and a blue tone that complements the aesthetics of blue-and-white porcelain. The piece tells the story of the history and craftsmanship of traditional Chinese porcelain, particularly blue-and-white ware.
Through delicate brushwork and vivid representation of traditional techniques, the film conveys the cultural essence of porcelain art while demonstrating how modern technology contributes to the innovation and preservation of traditional art forms. Porcelain was produced as part of the 2025 Summer Animation Practice Course under the guidance of Instructor Prof. Jiang Rui.
